Three unlikely friends take control of their office and learn there is nothing they can’t do, even in a man’s world.

9 To 5 The Musical, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Set in the late 1970s this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking, and even a little romantic.Pushed to the boiling point, three female co-workers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy – giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains “otherwise engaged,” the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down. Hey, a girl can scheme, can’t she?

This high-energy show with its jubilant score and easily relatable characters is the perfect show for all ages to enjoy!

Cast & Crew Members

Director – Carey Ryan-Carter

Carey joined KATS 7 years ago when she auditioned for Steel Magnolias and played ‘Shelby.’ She went on to direct ‘Guys and Dolls’ for them 2 years later and the following year played Mrs Johnston in ‘Blood brothers.’ Formerly a professional dancer and choreographer she went on to study drama at degree level and continues to work as a professional studio singer.

Violet - Jules Mc Coll

Jules has been with KATS now since 2013 and loved every production, being thrilled to be given the role of Violet and humbled that Carey trusted her to sing!!  Normally sticking to acting… this role is certainly going to stretch Jules vocally, she is happy to admit! In fact the first singing part she has ever taken on. So hold onto your seats and get the cotton wool ready… only joking. You will have a great night!!

Doralee – Sally Feetenby

Sally has enjoyed performing with KATS for many years, in 2019 she played Mrs Lyons in the Noda award winning production of Blood Brothers.  She also enjoys performing in Shakespeare productions with the Inn Theatre Company where earlier this year she played Adriana in A Comedy of Errors.  She is delighted to be playing the role of Doralee in this years KATS production of 9-5.

Judy - Bella Howling

Bella is an A level student, currently auditioning for drama schools around the UK. A fairly new addition to KATS (appearing in Oliver in 2015 for those who saw the show) and now fully addicted to the stage! “I’m so excited to show what we’ve been working on and can’t wait for future shows”. We love Bella’s talent and enthusiasm.

Franklin Hart - Tom Chadwick

Tom hasn’t done any acting for quite a while and, apart from a school production of The Forbidden Planet, this is his first ever musical. He says ‘it’s been a blast working with these KATS. He lives in Totnes, has two children and makes his living as a primary school teacher.

Roz - Caroline Hall

Caroline was born and brought up in Dartmouth. She moved upriver to Dittisham in 2005 and joined the Ditsum Players. Her very first role was in a murder mystery. She played the title role in pantomime, Dick Whittington. She’s also been in Black Comedy, Party Pieces, A Nice Cup of Tea and played a couple of Shakespearian roles. This is her first production with KATS.

Maria - Apple Taylor

Apple has performed with KATS in plays and musicals since 2014. She also
has fun with other local groups including Salcombe Players, Inn Theatre and
M.A.D. where she has assisted with make-up for over 10 years. She recently
led ‘The Ringmore Singers’ choir in Christmas carol concerts and services.

Kathy - Freya Harrow

Freya’s first show with Kats was Oliver, when only 11, and since then she has gone from strength to strength performing in numerous MAD shows – most recently playing Dorothy in the panto. Now at the ripe old age of 18 Freya is thrilled to be involved in the new show, working as a nursery practitioner, she says “working with this cast is easy”.

Margaret - Caroline Forcer

Caroline initially volunteered to help out backstage but soon found herself being persuaded to join the ensemble and then much to her surprise, a small part. This is her first time acting since appearing in her school advent play at the age of eight – and she says becoming a thespian has changed her life!

Joe - Ben Tyne

Benjamin has been performing in amateur theatre for exactly a decade this year. He started in the Marlborough pantos then recently joined KATS with guys and dolls, and hasn’t looked back since! He is absolutely fantastic, incredibly talented and overjoyed he gets to write his own bio!

Josh - Archie Feetenby

Archie has been involved in several KATS productions, in 2015 he shared the role of Oliver Twist in Oliver. He has also performed with Mad Kids and was involved in the Inn Theatre Company’s touring production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream. He is a keen drummer and is currently studying music at Exeter College.

Dwayne - Nate Fox

Having recently moved to Kingsbridge, Nate has found KATS the perfect way to meet new people. His varied and eclectic history includes being a lead singer in a rock group, dabbling with improv comedy and even being dragged on stage at the Edinburgh Fringe more than once! Dwayne is his first role in amateur dramatics.

Dick – Jonathan Cardrick

Jonathan’s first role playing Oliver at 11, for KATS, started his avid passion for theatre. Since then he has been in Fiddler as Mendel and, almost, in Whistle Down the Wind. Playing Dick in this exciting new production of 9 to 5 is a real opportunity with a great cast to work with and share laughs with too. We say – watch out for his dance moves!

Missy - Sarah Fox

As a teenager Sarah wished to have been part of KATS but openly admits that she felt too shy to even try. Thankfully a return to Kingsbridge 22 years later prompted her to finally have a go! And being a huge fan of musical theatre, it is no secret to say her dream has come true.

Tinsworthy - Trevor Trout

Trevor returns to the KATS stage to play Tinsworthy. Having started out playing Motel in the 2006 KATS production of Fiddler on the Roof. Continuing to play roles in KATS summer play productions, including the inaugural Beside the Seaside. Other musical roles have been Dexter in Singing in the Rain and Mr Sowerberry in Oliver.

Bob Enright - Olly Simmonds

Olly performed in his first show, Annie at the age of 8 and since then played Oliver in the KCC production of Oliver! and the scarecrow in The Wizard of Oz. This will be his first official KATS production and he has loved working with the wonderful cast and crew.

Mary - Karina Tyszkiewicz

As a teenager Karina attended ballroom dancing classes after which she joined the women’s modern dance group. Her love for singing she owes to her family as every meeting finished with everyone singing together. Being part of the ensemble in KATS has perfectly combined Karina’s two passions that have until recently only be seen by workmates.

Carol - Helen Mitchelmore

Originally from South Wales, Helen has a close affinity to her Welsh root and began performing in Eisteddfods during her school years. She joined KATS in 2007 when they performed Sweet Charity, and has loved it ever since although finding some dance routines challenging! Helen is never at rehearsal without a tape measure and pins!

Candystriper/Linda - Sarah Robens

Sarah has been in a wide range of KATS’ productions over the years from Sweet Charity to Carousel to the almost production of Whistle down the Wind in 2020. Some of these have been in her own right and some through her daughters’ involvement! In whatever capacity it’s always so much fun working with the KATS team and Sarah is so pleased that we get to be back on the stage again this year!
